Computers have been an integral part of my life for the past 50 years. During these formative years, I experienced not only certain hardships but also fruitful result in establishing this business.
Just like a farmer first seeding virgin soil, I planted my feet firmly in the fertile ground of the early computer industry at the beginning of the 1960's. The core of this second industrial revolution' the Information Revolution’, was USA; the engine of this revolution was the computer.. The Information Revolution, called ‘the 2nd Industrial Revolution’, radically utilized the thinking ability of humankind.
While the USA and other advanced countries were propounding the development of a computer-driven ‘new world’, Korea was still an undeveloped land outside this information and communication revolution. I swore to myself that I would be the founder of Korea’s information revolution.
Just like Moon Ik Joem, who started the textile revolution in Korea by introducing the cotton seed, I promised myself that I would sow the seeds of an information revolution in Korea. I would be satisfied with being the first grain of wheat sowed in this earth. I thought this would make a worthwhile contribution to my country.
When I see people gathered to and live at the cultivated land that I toil from virgin land, and finally live to the new world, I feel that all those years of toil are not in vain. Although our present success was not just the result of my own efforts., I feel satisfied and am proud of my efforts. Present Day’s IT Korea was made possible through the efforts of many pioneers from my generation and their devotion to the development of the computer industry of Korea.
In former days, new technology is developed overnight, but it does not apply anymore in today’s world. In other words, technology war is a matter of a minute and a second and it is spreading all over the world. No one can deny the fact that speed of change will be accelerated in the near future. In this rapidly changing world, sharp eye, which can determine the directions of development and change, is absolutely necessary.
