KCC Information & Communication started its business in the national defense field in the late 1970's for the ROK Army. The company entered the defense industry by building the DATA-100 system and introducing the PRIME equipment. Since then, it has led and contributed to the informatization of Korean military systems and national defense. Its history spans from the last 40 years throughout the eras of the host system, client/server system to today's web environment.
In 1990, KCC Information and Communication successfully completed the Air Force's strategic information system project, which linked the ROKAF headquarters and its troops in the client/server environment. In 1997, it was consecutively awarded three projects from the ROK Navy, including the integrated office automation system, marine information system, and picture information system development projects.
After 2000, KCC Information & Communication was also awarded various national defense projects and achieved satisfactory results as a leading company specializing in national defense SI projects. Its association began with concept research projects for new military fields, such as M & S, C4I, and the field of logistics. It steadily expanded its scope of business to fields other than those of resource management. By 2003, the company had participated in the C4I (command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence) system concept research project. It consecutively carried out the 4-year Air Force C4I system project in 2004 and the 4-year C4I performance improvement project in 2008.
In addition, in 2004, the company completed the computing system introduction project that would establish the information infrastructure of the Korean troops dispatched to Iraq. The company also completed the Air Force's Kuwait dispatch project and its Lebanon dispatch project in 2007.
In 2003, the company firmly established its status as an SI partner with the Army, Navy, and Air Force by successively carrying out the main computing equipment project for the Army, the application system conversion project for the Air Force's integrated information management center, the main computing equipment replacement project for the Navy, the industrial mobilization performance improvement project for the Ministry of National Defense, and the naval equipment maintenance and information system development project.
From 2006 to 2012, KCC Information & Communication continued to carry out national defense information system projects for the ROK Army, Navy, Air Force, Ministry of National Defense, and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. Since the end of 2015, the company has initiated the national defense and logistics integrated information system development project to integrate equipment maintenance and information systems of each military branch in accordance with the national defense policies.
Over the past half-century, KCC Information & Communication has established itself as a leading company in the field of national defense informatization in cooperation with the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Based on these experiences and a focused mission, the company will continue to fulfill its role as an IT expert in the national defense sector.
